Nutrition Without the Noise

Nutrition content online tends toward one of two extremes: dangerously oversimplified, or so granular it requires a spreadsheet and a food scale for every meal. Most people training a few times a week need neither. They need three habits, repeated without much drama.

1. Protein at every meal — no scale required

A palm-sized portion at each meal is a perfectly good starting point. It supports the muscle you're training to build and keeps you fuller for longer. Consistency here does more work than precision.

2. Timing matters far less than total intake

The idea that a missed post-workout protein shake wastes the session is mostly myth. What you eat across the full day matters more than hitting a narrow 30-minute window afterward. Relax about the window.

3. Plan for the week you'll actually have

A plan built around daily meal-prep and zero takeout will fail the first genuinely busy week. Build in the version of you that eats out sometimes. A plan that survives real life beats a perfect plan that gets abandoned by Wednesday.

The habit that moves the needle

Not tracking every gram. Not eliminating entire food groups. Protein at each meal, mostly whole foods, and enough consistency that one imperfect day doesn't spiral into an imperfect month.

Specific goals — competing, cutting on a deadline, managing a health condition — warrant individualized nutrition guidance. For most people, most of the time, the basics done consistently beat the perfect plan done occasionally.
